UPDATE: 28 May 2015 17H45 SA time. Instead of resigning Sepp Blatter cast the blame on the minority who acted corruptly. He misses the point.
He said that NOW is a dark time for FIFA. WRONG. The corruption allegations have been around and have been arrogantly and incompetently ignored by Blatter & FIFA for years. The #Qatar outcome revealed to me over a year ago that FIFA was rotten to the core. This ought to have been clear to Blatter too. But he chose to pretend all was well.
His argument that he can't watch all the people all the time does not pass muster. I could see FIFA was rotten from Cape Town a year ago and I published an article to that effect. How could Sepp not know when he is there??????
He knew, or ought reasonably to have suspected and he did not act. The most favourable interpretation of his conduct is that he was Naïve and Incompetent. His dereliction of duty is unforgiveable and he must go.
S WALTHER
IF Blatter stays, then I call upon all soccer fans around the world to unite to boycott the #FIFA sponsors +Coca-Cola +adidas +Visa .
We the fans have the power. Send tweets to the Sponsors. Let them know #Blattermustgo or the Sponsors must go. I am certain the Sponsors will quickly tell Blatter where to go.
I refer to previous articles I have written about FIFA corruption

Here is an extract of one of the above articles which I wrote on 12 November 2014
"Bribery? / Corruption?
To almost everyone but FIFA (and some in Qatar) there is one and only one reasonable explanation for the success of Qatar's bid which presents itself. The result must have been the result of bribery and/or some foul play.
Allegations of corruption and of shady practices involving FIFA are not new, FIFA's standard response to most such allegations has generally been dismissive. FIFA's failure to deal with allegations of corruption in a decisive and open manner has done little to quell such rumours.
Gifts?
In addition, FIFA have also failed to adequately acknowledge or address the highly questionable practice of the provision of gifts to members of FIFA's World Cup Committee by or on behalf of bidding countries. Although these "incentives" or gifts may fall short of actual bribery or corruption, the failure to eliminate these practices does FIFA no credit.
No matter what FIFA says, permitting, or failing to ban such gifts outright, in itself goes a long way to muddying the water between innocent low-value tokens of esteem, and actual bribery. Indeed, one of the FIFA officials recently accused of bribery has predictably resorted to suggesting his receipt of gifts from bidding host countries' representative is both acceptable and common practice. "
NOW, MR SEPP BLATTER.
There are only two possibilities. You are totally incompetent or totally corrupt. No other possibilities present themselves. WHICH IS IT?
Mr Blatter is part of the problem no matter how you look at it and he has to go. That is obvious to everyone but him and probably FIFA.
